What is the Next Chapter Circle?

A welcoming 60+ community where you can connect with others, explore ideas, learn new things and discover what’s next, without having to have it all figured out.

🌱 Explore What’s Next. You don't need a five-year plan. Explore interests, possibilities and questions about what could make this next chapter meaningful for you.

💡 Discover New Ideas Each month.  We'll explore a different topic, question or experience designed to spark curiosity, reflection and conversation.

🤝 Connect With People Who Get It Share ideas, experiences and perspectives with people who understand that being 60+ doesn't mean you're finished growing.

🧠 Keep Learning Explore new subjects, skills, perspectives and possibilities. Sometimes we'll learn from one another, and sometimes we'll bring in a guest expert.

🔥 Turn Ideas Into Possibilities.  Maybe there's something you've been thinking about, wanting to try or wondering how to pursue. Get encouragement, fresh perspectives and a little nudge when you're ready to take the next step.

🌿 Share What You Know Your experience matters. The Circle isn't just about what you can learn from others. Your stories, skills, wisdom and perspective may be exactly what someone else needs to hear.

A Community, Not Another Commitment

No homework. No pressure. No expectation that you have it all figured out.

Come in your sweats, bring your curiosity and participate as much as feels right for you.  We'll meet online, making it easy to participate wherever you live. And if we're all local, we may occasionally decide to get together in person.

What You May Take Away

Over time, the Circle may help you find:

More clarity about what matters to you now.
More connection with people who want to keep growing.
More curiosity about what you might explore next.
More confidence in the value of your experience and ideas.
More momentum toward the things that interest or excite you.

And perhaps most importantly, a renewed sense that your story isn't over.

You have value. There's still more to learn, experience, create, contribute and enjoy.

What We'll Explore Together

Each month, we will explore a discussion question, topic of interest, or both in a 90-minute live Zoom gathering.

If the members are in close proximity, they may choose to meet occasionally in person.

One 90-minute live monthly Zoom gathering

Come as you are, get comfortable, and join us for an engaging conversation around a topic that matters to the group.

Discussion topics:
The group will shape the questions we'll explore.  We’ll introduce the month’s topic, share a little thought-provoking information, and then spend most of our time talking, reflecting and learning from one another.

This isn’t a lecture. Your experiences, ideas and perspectives are a big part of what makes the Circle valuable.

Guest experts
When the group is interested in learning more about a particular topic, we may invite a guest expert to join us for part or all of the gathering. The group helps shape what we explore and who we bring in.

Professionally facilitated discussions

You’ll have the ease and informality of a community without having to be the one who organizes it.

A professional facilitator:

  • keeps the Circle moving
  • manages the Zoom gatherings and schedule
  • creates engaging conversations

Your Invitation

You don't have to reinvent your entire life.
You don't have to retire because someone thinks you should.
And you don't have to prove anything to anyone.
You simply have to be curious about what could come next.

The Next Chapter Circle is a place to explore What's next for you? Let's find out together.

Why Have a Facilitator?

Because a great group takes more than putting interesting people in a Zoom room or at a table.

The value of the Next Chapter Circle doesn't happen by accident. Someone has to create the conditions for people to connect, think, contribute, learn and grow — and then keep tending to the group after the meeting ends. Your facilitator provides the structure, continuity and behind-the-scenes work that allows the Circle to remain valuable over time.

Your facilitator:
• Keeps the group moving. Meetings don't become a series of unstructured conversations where a few people dominate.
• Creates space for everyone.  Different personalities and communication styles get an opportunity to contribute.
• Asks the questions that move the conversation deeper. Rather than simply talking about a topic, we explore what it means in our own lives.
• Helps members turn conversation into action. When an idea, goal or possibility emerges, the facilitator helps members identify meaningful next steps.
• Keeps the group focused on its purpose. We can have fun and enjoy one another while still making sure the group remains more than simply another social gathering.
• Brings structure without making the experience feel rigid. You get enough organization to make the experience worthwhile without turning it into another class, meeting or corporate program.
• Brings in relevant resources, speakers and learning opportunities. The facilitator listens for what members are interested in and researches people, ideas and opportunities that could add value.
• Follows up between meetings. Ideas and questions that emerge during a gathering don't simply disappear when the Zoom ends. The facilitator follows up, researches resources and helps turn possibilities into opportunities.
• Creates connections among members. When someone mentions an interest, experience or challenge that connects with another member, the facilitator can help make that connection.
• Handles the practical details. Scheduling, Zoom, the website, communication, resources and the many small administrative tasks that make an ongoing community possible don't happen by themselves.
• Maintains continuity. Most importantly, someone is committed to showing up and keeping the group going month after month. The group doesn't depend on one or two volunteers having the time and energy to keep everything running.

About the Group Facilitator - Katy Fleming

I’ve spent much of my life bringing people together, creating learning experiences and helping groups have conversations that actually go somewhere.

I taught at CU Boulder for eight years while directing a sexuality education program on campus, and later directed education and outreach for a local AIDS services organization. I developed and implemented curriculum for the Boulder Valley School District and currently teach emotional intelligence to business students at CU Denver. I’ve spent more than 30 years teaching, facilitating and creating learning experiences.

I’ve also been a real estate investor for 25 years, managing my own properties and, for more than a decade, creating and leading Investors Network Community, a networking and mastermind community for real estate investors. I’ve facilitated large groups and small masterminds where people brainstorm, solve problems, set goals, hold one another accountable and learn from each other.

Over the years, I’ve learned that good groups don't just happen. They need someone who can create a welcoming environment, keep conversations moving, make sure everyone has a chance to participate, bring in useful resources and, when necessary, gently keep us from wandering too far down the rabbit hole!

Now I’m bringing all of that experience to LifeTree 60+ and to a group of people I understand personally: people who have deep roots, plenty of experience, and still have a lot they want to do.
